Homage to My House

My parents just got home from their 6 month vaca in FL. finally back in the midwest and located in Oshkosh, WI.  its about time!  it's great that they go down there because my thanksgivings/easters have been spent in the florida sun versus the frozen tundra, but it also means that i do not go home from november until may.  i can't stand being at home, but i love my house.  its my favorite place in the whole world and has the best basement couch everrrr.  i'm so homesick for my basement, ughhhhhhhhh.  i have a great bedroom, a great bathroom and its with out a doubt the nicest home i'll ever live in.  thanks mom and dad for making me have a great home but its only downhill from there unless i marry a rich financial advisor!!!

the winter months kind of suck because we live on a river that gives a nasty wind and blowing snow, but summers, man o man, my house wins.  everyone drives up to their cabins/lake homes for the weekends, but i can drive home and have a mcmansion and 2 boats at my finger tips!  granted, i can't drive the boats but still, my dad's 2nd nickname is cap't k so he's always ready to cruise!  with access to 2 lakes and a river...you can't go wrong!  if its windy or packed on one lake...go to the other!  there's plent of boating room, sailboat races  and bars along the shore.  TAKE ME THERE NOW!

i wish it was memorial day weekend right now.

Little Boys

if you know me at all, you would know that i'm not really a kid person. the crying, yelling, drooling, puking, annoying kid stuff is not my bag. sure some kids are cute on picture but i'm pretty sure that i will only genuinely like my own kids, and thats it. sorry friends, i will not babysit your kids. my adventure last night sums up my thoughts on kids.

my sister and i were going to the passion pit concert at the congress and sure enough we happened to be in the same neighborhood of the kids that she babysat all through college. the family consists of young parents and 3 boys, 5,6,7 in age. yikes right! well we walk in, and of course they love alex so they are yelling her name and the adventure begins. sure enough, they were all in the bath tube "swimming." i only have 1 sister and never babysat so i wasn't prepared to see 3 small boys nudie and yelling and hyper. i must have had a complete look of shock on my face bc the dad asked how i felt about kids. well sir, up until now i wanted to have 2 little boys (mainly bc i'd never want to deal with how annoying and mean my sister and i were to each other) but actually seeing how little boys are....noooooo way. i'm not cut out for boys, their lil weeeens and weird things like that creep the shit out of me and i'm done. i text'd my random guy and said that i needed to get out of there and a have a drink, stat! tubes tied/bc for the rest of my life it is!

i'm still in shock, motherhood and me do nooooot mix. ugh.

ps the passion pit concert was fun. a couple of annoying high schoolers jumping around and sweating on me, but overall a great concert. fun!

Feeling kind of old...

As senior week is about to start and facebook albums have been filled with younger kids going on spring break, I've been feeling the post college depression / transition into the mid-twenties blues...

So yesterday after work, i had a list of things to do to keep myself busy until it was late enough for me to go to bed. I completed everything on my list (for once), granted it only had 3 things on it, but whatever. As planned, right after I ran, but before I showered...I had to defrost some chicken. WELL, turns out right as i was doing that, a ted just so happen to have asked if i could make him dinner too. then it turned into this big ordeal with making chicken and rice and blah blah, when i would have been content with a chicken breast and wheat thins. i ate way more than i wanted to and dirtied all the dishes just so that it would appear to this random guy, that i can actually cook. after i cleaned everything up, i was kind of weirded out. since when do i cook? i'm the master of grilled cheeses and cereal but to make a meal? gross. take me back to the days when soup-at-hands were my lunch of choice. i'm about to hit 23 and it kind of makes me sad that i'm growing up in the food isle.

Right before i moved to chicago, my dad said that he'd never believe it that i'd move here if someone would have asked him 4 years ago. he said he expects me to still wear baggy basketball shorts and sling my hair back everyday. cmon dad! don't make me feel even older now that i graduated to heels, skinny jeans and a curling iron! of course when i get home from work, i throw on some sweats (granted they aren't lourdes knights bball sweats anymore) and sweatshirt! just because i'm almost 23, doesn't mean i'm not i'm still the same old laid back sconnie at heart!!

ugh, i turn 23 in 6 weeks. kill me now.

The Smells on My Walk to Work

This may or may not be too much information, but it needs to be said because I think about it day in and day out as i walk to and from work. I have the worst array of smells now that the weather has changed. Here is my daily intact of smelly air:

Route 1: House to Train
-Sensational Bites: yummy, delicious chocolates, cakes, brownies, bites of heaven gives off an extra sweet and "sensational" smell from the bakery that is just warming up its ovens.
-2x10 Nail Salon/Pinkys Nail Salon: the smell of chemicals that are strong enough to take off paint, skin, and to apply fake/gross nails.
-Julias Meinl: austrian coffee. enough said.

Route 2: Train to Work
-Quincy Brownline: flying-rat poo. the pigeons that live on the Quincy brownline smell like feet and crap everywhere to give the entire block around Quincy/Adams a feces stench. barf.
-Subway on Adams: the oh so enticing famous smell of Subway, it was inviting the first couple weeks, and now i'm immune. kind of sad.
-222 S. Riverside: MANURE. they just planted their spring flowers and used manure to fertilize. i know its better for the plants to grow, but thanks 222 S. Riverside for making the entire block smell like cow crap, i thought i left Wisconsin... here's a link if you'd like to use manure to fertilize your garden!!! http://http//www.finegardening.com/how-to/articles/fertilizing-old-fashioned-way-with-manure.aspx

i like it when ted takes me to work in the mornings so i don't have to smell route 1.  now i can't wait to get done with work so i can have all those delicious smells running through my nose. i wish i had allergies so i'd be too stuffed up to breath, but i don't....gotta hold my breath for 3 miles straight. ugh.

PS. Happy Holidays to all of the stoners...

SOOOO hello. i've decided to blog at work due to my mundane work life and oh so boring schedule. just a couple random thoughts on work, friends, and life.

today i am working on some retirement planning presentations to present to clients with $10m+ in manageable assets. who in their right mind would give me 10 bucks, none the less, $10m to look after and grow?!?! nobody, thats why i'm making it for my boss who has a pretty impressive portfolio. go stuart.

i will be done with work at 6:30 and cannot wait to watch gossip girl tonight...that show just keeps on getting more twisted and risque. if you are looking for soft core porn, tune into the CW tonight to watch....xoxo gossip girl
